VA Hospital Salisbury, SIPU
(Specialized In Patient Unit)
The Veterans Committee of UAW Local 3520 adopted the SIPU in June of 2006. Since then we have provided them with coffee, teas, cocoa and snacks. We also try to give each class a little memento from us to say “Thank You” for your service to our nation.
The SIPU is for Veterans who have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and who have attended out-patient therapy at their local VA Hospitals. This is a six week in-patient program where the Veterans come and stay for the duration of their therapy. The program has remarkable success with the Veterans.
It has been an honor and a privilege to be associated with such a wonderful group of people. Each six weeks we get to meet and greet a new group of twenty Veterans and let them know a little about us as well. The staff in the SIPU is second to none. Each one that works in this department has a passion for what they do and we are fortunate that we can be associated with them.
