This Monday afternoon I was informed by the International Union that our delegates that we had elected to represent us during our General Elections at the UAW Constitutional Convention would be denied their credentials. This is leaving us with no voice or vote on issues at the upcoming convention. This is a very important issue to us and our Union. As you are aware one of the topics to be voted on at the convention will be the issue of dues increased. I feel by the response from our membership that we strongly oppose this issue and we need repesentives at the convention to vote in that manner. We were told that our election had taken place prior to being authorized the amount of delegates that would be awarded to us. At this point our delegate seats will be denied, however in writing I informed the International Union that the dead line for sending in our delegate had not passed and we still have time to elect our repesentives. In order to establish delegates at the convention, a new election would have to take place. This requires immediate response from our membership in order to make this happen. I will be calling a special meeting this Saturday March 29 2014 at the local union hall at 10:30 a.m. At this meeting we will be setting nomination and election dates for delegates to represent us at the 2014 UAW Constitution Convention. As with any special meeting called according to our by-laws no other business or issue will be discussed. As President I want to personally apologize to the delegates that were elected in our General election. We have always since the existence of our Local held election for our delegates at the General Election, but this is the first time we have had them denied.

"Buy American!" might sound like nothing more than a slogan advanced by American manufacturers to sell products made in the USA, but the truth is that there are many reasons to consider buying American-made clothing, American-made toys, and other US-manufactured goods.
